“Pilate was merciful till it became risky.”

Election 2012

“Pilate was merciful till it became risky.”
― C.S. LewisThe Screwtape Letters

Revelation 2:10 -  Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.

The church has been afraid far too long and now it may be too late. When I was growing up, I got fire and brimstone from the pulpit - nothing that could scare the "Jesus" out of me, but it did help me make some good decisions along the way. Don't get me wrong... I have also made a series of bad decisions along the way.

I took a little "exit" poll after the elections and it looks like the church is indeed afraid. In many other countries the church has to be afraid because religious leaders do go to prison and they are killed for preaching the Word of God, but here in the good ole US of A that will never happen! Well, I have news for you, it already is happening as we stand by and continue to produce mass conversions, but fail to teach the Word of God. The Gospel of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are not the only books of the Bible. There is also Revelation. Does anyone listen to Raul Ries when talks about the end times? When he calls things by their name? "Killing babies", he says. People, it is time that the church stop sugar-coating things and starts throwing fire and brimstone from the pulpit. We can't LOVE (the love that Jesus intends we have for one another) unless we know how to love and what love is and some times love = spanking one of my kids for misbehaving. It is not all unicorns and rainbows.

“A moderated religion is as good for us as no religion at all—and more amusing.”
― C.S. LewisThe Screwtape Letters

If I am a mother of 10, 12, 18, 25 children, does only delivering those children make me a good mother? Do I really LOVE my children? No, unless I feed them, keep them clean, warm when it is cold, and most of all, if I bring them up with morals and standards, to know the difference between right and wrong (and as a Christian, teach them the Word of God and lead them down the path of Salvation). We can't continue to mass produce Christians because you get what we have today. No real repentance, only euphoria and then what? What about doctrine? You can't put the Bible in a 3 ring binder and take out the pages that you don't like. But how are they supposed to know where the pulpit stands on issues like "killing babies"? Shhhh! First, let's show them love (by compromising Biblical truth for social and cultural acceptance), then we can all sing, hold hands and make pretend until election day. This is like rehabilitation to the person who was once disabled by some kind of physical ailment. After a surgery that will help them, for example, walk again, they don't just get up from the OR table and walk, they go through rehabilitation to learn how to walk. Same principle. "Go and sin no more".

No one is at FAULT for the outcome of these elections. We can try to rationalize through this as much as we want, but it will never work. I am still wondering how Obama took out Hillary in 2008? That is the $1 million question. I may not have the right answer, but I do have an answer. This is a spiritual war. Nothing more, nothing less and not even Ronald Reagan incarnated could have won these elections. All of the social issues are a cover up for the enemy to inch it's way in to our way of life. To divide and conquer. Did you see it - almost 50/50. We are divided. And for those who will say that this is the will of God, I say this - the will of God is that none should perish, but we know that many will. So He has allowed it to happen (because God IS in control of everything), but I doubt that He is happy about it. Could it have been prevented? Sure, but He allowed it. Blessed be the name of the Lord for allowing this. His ways are straight and one day we will know why.

In the meantime, I challenge Christians not to be afraid. We still have religious freedom (for now anyway) and we are still strong. Yes, God is Love, but he is our Heavenly Father and He is not afraid to use the rod to get our attention when necessary.

Achtung Baby!

I have lots more to say about the elections. I was terribly disappointed by the things that actually made it on the ballot (doctor-assisted suicide, recreational marijuana, killing babies) and some of these actually passed.
I just want to say one thing toward the topic of abortion. I could never imagine what a woman who decides to have an abortion could be going through. It must be the toughest decision of her life, but partial birth/ late term abortions? Do you know that right here in South Miami Hospital the smallest preemie was born at 22 weeks, 3 days, weighing in at 13 oz. and he survived? I heard Olivia's heart beating for the first time when I was 5 weeks pregnant. You can hear a heartbeat even earlier than that. When a couple has a miscarriage, do they ever say "we lost a fetus"? NO! They say "we lost the baby". Your baby is in heaven waiting for you. It doesn't matter what you have done, when you repent it is all made new. "Go and sin no more".

Back to the elections and to my disappointment. What I was most disappointed with was my "exit" poll. The churches did not speak about the elections clearly. If they had maybe (maybe not) the outcome could have been different. We should be Christians above all, then we are Hispanic, black, white, etc. Moral issues have been usurped by the liberal agenda and these groups are also being used (exploited) to further that agenda. At the end, no homosexual, woman (pro-choice) or immigrant will matter.

Last but not least, my rant about this new found hate for the rich. Since when have Americans hated the rich? What makes the US so appealing is that here we have the OPPORTUNITY, with hard work, to be "rich" one day our selves. This hate is not American. This is not what our fathers and grandfathers came here for. To hate the rich. How terribly sad. The "American Dream" as we knew it, is no more. Unrecognizable.

Thanks to a friend for turning me on to the Screwtape Letters.

Check out the link. It will blow you away.

And finally - thanks to all of those who did stand your ground. I tip my hat, I am forever in your debt on behalf of  the people that you are able to reach and for your service to this country and your commitment, for being responsible for your flock and holding yourselves accountable to God.

No one belongs here...

Edwin and I went back to our room after a long, hot day and he said to me, "you see why I don't belong here?".

I replied, "no one belongs here".

We just got back from a trip that I never thought I would take. It was a journey to the center of the earth. Maybe it was the heat, or maybe it was the sound of an old car radio playing Hotel California, but I think we may have been close to "that" place.

Before I go on, I want to say that we received nothing but love from the people of this country. That their suffering is now mine and that I pray for them, their safety and ultimately, their freedom.

We didn't find a single communist in Cuba during our two week trip. We did find much heartache: broken families, misery, beggars, destruction. Only the Grace of God can keep those people safe from disease in a place that boasts of zero infant mortality and other health related lies. Where doctors make the equivalent of $25 USD per month and are jailed if a patient dies while in their care. Next door to where we stayed lives a good doctor and family friend, who had been on call 24 hours a day for 2 weeks. Her kids were the poorest kids on their block until her husband defected about 2 years ago. He sends her money, but he can't come back and she has requested to leave, but the punishment (purgatory) is from 5 - 10 years. In the meantime, while she waits, her directors threaten her daily and her children grow up with out a father and not any less poor.

There is no internet access in Cuba. Only a select group of people get some kind of dial up for email only. No surfing the web. If you have "a contact", they will charge you $80 USD per month for 1 hour x day of internet access. And don't get me started on how I feel about the embargo... an insult to the intelligence of the Cuban exiles and the Cuban people, but if lifted, things would not be any better. Where there is no purchasing power and zero opportunity for upward mobility, more "stuff" won't help. It would only create another level of poverty. The government doesn't care for (hates) the people. Even with the "embargo" things come in through countries like Venezuela, Brazil and others, but only citizens with access to dollars, euros or other foreign currency can have limited access, if any, to the left overs that the government decides to put on the shelves at the so-called stores.

Hospital waste gets dumped into a River which drains into the ocean just near the public beach. Medicine there is barbaric. No epidurals for natural birth. They prefer to perform c-sections on all women. Babies whose mothers can't breastfeed have to drink regular powdered milk - no formula available. Diapers, any hygiene product, milk (any), oil, soap, oatmeal, etc. are scarce if at all available. Only available in the stores where you pay with CUC's which is a currency that they have invented - the exchange rate is about usd $0.85 to 1 CUC and 1 CUC is about 25 Cuban Pesos. That means that in order to buy 1 can of condensed milk at CUC 3.00, our friend the doctor would have to invest 1 month's salary to make a Natilla or Flan.

Looking out onto the ocean, I can't help but feel the same agony that I see in their faces. The situation there is so complicated because the only way to survive is to stick together, but sticking together means people have to give up their hopes of some day becoming a real human being away from that place. The government has been successful at separating and ultimately destroying the family unit. Once that is lost, everything else falls apart and the enemy can begin the work of invading society with malice and immorality. Standards are lowered to the point that selling yourself to feed your children is something that I can't condone, but I will not condemn. In some cases the church has become too busy requiring certain actions from it's members and condemning the lost instead of living out the Great Commandment.

Only the Grace of Jesus and the hope of Heaven is keeping these people sane, although, the doctors will tell you that everyone is on depression and pain meds. From their early 20's to the elderly.

I hope that our trip to Cuba was a blessing to at least one person. We were breaking paradigms and spreading Love in the name of Jesus. We gave away many smiles and hours of listening to story after story of death, divorce, disease and devastation. What is undeniable is that this trip was a blessing for us, as we were able to witness real people living by Faith alone.

No one belongs in that place. Please pray for our friends.

John 10:10 - "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

Summer Vacation... really?

Seems like I am washing more clothes, cooking more food and running around more than ever. David is like a caged animal on the days he has to stay inside. Olivia can entertain herself, but she craves for more - mami, gymnastics... mami, swimming... mami, Target... mami, mami, mami. She walks around with me in the grocery store chatting... bzzzzzz. I lose my concentration and forget to buy half of the things on my list and toward the end of the trip, she says: "mami, am I driving you crazy?" She really is my companion. And as much as she dislikes it (some days she loves it, other days she hates it) she looks just like me when I was her age, except that she is prettier. :)

So, I started the summer unemployed. Looking for something, but not knowing exactly what and I found it. Or IT found me. I am the new Community Relations Rep for 90.9 Life FM - that is 909lifefm.com in case you want to stream us on your computer. Finally working full time in ministry. Really? Is that what I have wanted to do for the past 6 years? Yes! Really.

The job, well it is awesome. It is a part-time, I get to be on the radio (it's a recorded spot, but the kids get a kick out of it), I have a nice boss and co-workers. Nice is really not the right word - they are awesome too. I love going to the office to hang out with the team (and work  ;)  of course). I have also enjoyed meeting the people who want to support us and get their message out to our listeners by becoming underwriters. I hope I can help every single one of them.

A bit of a new identity for me, I must say. Before, I was the one with the budget!

I will close with a two totally unrelated verses (to the post) just because I found them today and I wanted to share:

Daniel 2:44 - "In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever."

Matthew 3:2 - "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near"

The 3 Ring Binder

This is going to be one of those posts... Warning: I may lose some readers (hahaha - Gail, I am sure that you will not unfollow me for this one). Also, I enjoy writing hahaha vs LOL. I'm just set in my ways, I guess.

I have this thing that I have to get off my chest, so here it goes: THE BIBLE (WORD OF GOD) IS NOT A BOOK THAT YOU CAN PRINT ON YOUR HOME PRINTER, USE YOUR THREE-HOLE PUNCHER AND PUT IT INTO A 3 RING BINDER, TO LATER REMOVE THOSE PAGES WHICH YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH.

There! (sigh) I feel sooo much better now. People, Christians, pleasssse be aware that the Bible, the WORD OF GOD is not customizable. It is what it is. Either you take it or you leave it.

If you go to church and they preach against something that is wrong by the standards of the WORD OF GOD, that is good. That means that you are getting the truth. If you go to church and they don't preach against the things that are WRONG according to the WORD OF GOD, then that is bad, because they are lying to you. So what do you want to hear?

Jesus said "I am the way, the Truth and the light and no man comes to the Father, but through me." That is a simple truth. If you believe that truth, then you must believe all of the other truths that are found in the WORD OF GOD. This is not selective reading or selective listening. Coming to Christ is about repentence. If you accept Jesus and you repent (what ever the sin, just walk away) then you are set. Start studying the WORD OF GOD and applying its truth in your life. It is the perfect WORD OF GOD... no editing needed.

The WORD OF GOD is not about exclusion. It is about INCLUSION. "We are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God".  It is not about condemnation, it is about redemption. It is as simple as it gets.

Find yourselves a Bible preaching church. A church that is "...not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ". A church that is an advocate of the WORD OF GOD and His commandments. A church that professes what is written in the WORD OF GOD and not just part of it, but ALL OF IT. I pray you stand firm. That your beliefs are not to be challenged by mainstream or compromised by relationships. In the WORD OF GOD you will find the answers for all of your questions: politics, relationships, morality, work ethic... you name it.

Olivia turn 8 this month and looking back, we find that so many things have changed in this world in eight years. Not sure what the next eight years will bring, but we are at a loss from where we were eight years ago. We are on a downward slope which I believe is directly related to the lack of Prayer and the lack of teaching the Bible.

Don't put your Bible in a 3 ring binder.

With Love,

Rosa

It is VITAL that you know...

... what Operation Christmas Child is all about!!! As you may have read in my last post (I am averaging about 1 post per month - not so hot for a wannabe social media expert), I went to Connect 2012, the Operation Christmas Child Volunteer Meeting. It was sooo much more exciting, uplifting, EDIFYING than I can ever tell you about. The authenticity of the ministry and the hearts of the Volunteers and Staff... Incredible!!! I was so impressed by the organization. Having worked in large companies with large Marketing departments and with wonderful professionals, I tend to be quite critical. Don't get me wrong. I try not to be judgmental, but I am critical - as in constructive criticism... ;). I was pleasantly surprised, although I really don't know why I would be surprised at all, these people are "marketing" for God, how could they be anything but the BEST?!? I was blessed to have been able to leave my 3 kids at home, about 1 week after loosing my job in order to attend, but God knew that what I was going to experience in Atlanta was going to produce tweets, this post and more shoeboxes!

At Connect 2012 in Atlanta,GA. (Stone Mountain)
Meet some of members of the Florida/PR Team.

I don't want to extend myself, so I will just give you my elevator speech - adapted from several other OCC Volunteer and Staff presentations - it goes something like this and sometimes I do it in Spanish:

"Do you know about OCC? We are a ministry of Samaritans Purse, an international relief organization, headed by Franklin Graham." (at this point, some poeple are still clueless, so when I see that empty look in their eyes, I mention that Franklin is Billy Graham's son - in some cases they make the connection, but mind you - not ALL cases!).

"What we do is fill shoe boxes with items like toothbrushes and other personal hygiene products, as well as, toys and send them to poor children all over the world. Last year we packed and shipped 8.5 MILLION boxes to over 100 countries!" (8.5 million usually produces wide eyes and open mouths)

"Every box delivered is a representation of God's love and it presents an opportunity to share the Gospel. In some countries, we are blessed to have local teachers trained by SP/OCC who through the local church facilitate a 12 week discipleship program called The Greatest Journey (TGJ). Every child that registers for TGJ is introduced to Jesus and is taught how to  follow Him and how to share their faith. On week #4, the receive Christ and on week 12, they are asked to write the names of 9 people - family, friends, etc. with whom they will share the Gospel." (this part usually produces tears in the eyes of those who are believers).

It is important to me that you (all of my readers: Gail and now Jane - lol) know what OCC is doing all over the world. It is important that we as volunteers and any of you who pack so much as ONE shoebox, can communicate the scope of this ministry and our mission in the most clear way.

After the elevator speech, we get a series of follow-up questions like:

1. Where do the boxes go?
2. How does it work?
3. How can my church or organization get involved?
4. How can I volunteer?

I have answers to all of these questions, just email me (rglobaina@yahoo.com).

Edwin, the kids and I at Expolit, Miami, FL. making contacts
in the hispanic community for OCC.
One other very important thing to say is that we don't only have shoe box generation goals which equal gospel opportunities, but we also have internal goals, as an organization. As Christians we are called to "Love one another" - this is The Great Commandment . As a team, we support each other in prayer, we make friends, help people in our community. OCC is a great opportunity for families to come together and do something with true meaning and a lasting impression. It allows us the opportunity to share God's love with our children and teach them about being involved in the Lord's work.

Here are a few videos (my favs) from OCC:

Worthy of a New Post

So many things to share, but I have been quite lazy (yes, not so busy, but lazy. I have the same problem with exercise...).

I am currently sitting on the counter with an old laptop (more about that later) and I have 8 tabs open on the explorer. I am emailing, facebook-ing, pinterest-ing, planning a trip on the Metrorail, watching a dog on a webcam and now, I am also blogging. Why not? It's not like I have anything else to do.

So, last Friday was my last day... at Mindray - that is why I am blogging in the middle of the day and from this old laptop - the keyboard on this thing is wierd. My position was eliminated. It's really ok, don't feel too bad. God is on top of things and we are ok. This home office opportunity came like everything that comes from God - it was just in time and it served its purpose, but now it is time to move on, or to stay home? Maybe. Maybe not. We are not praying for one thing or the other, but for the will of God. Don't know how going back to the 9-5 could work out for us, but I also don't know how staying home would work out either. What I do know is that God knows what I need and what I want. The Rozells (http://www.pottersfield.org/) were at the church a few ago and Michael said that God knew we would be sitting in that place listening to the message since before we were born. That is very comforting to me.

(If you've never seen or heard the Rozells - go online and listen. They are such a blessing) - which reminds me I need to start taking notes at Church.

I was asked by a friend to be specific about my job needs so that she could pray for what needed/wanted, but when I think back to the Bible verses we memorized growing up, I always remember Jeremiah 29:11. The kids are also memorizing verses. They are not in a Christian school so they don't get the daily study of the God's Word. This becomes and really it IS our job as a parent to equip our children so that they too can speak about Jesus and defend their beliefs whenever necessary. David has a friend from the Middle East in his class and just the other day David explained to him that Jesus died and was later risen from the dead. Of course, they will never coincide in their ideologies, but David knows Jesus died for our sins and was risen on the third day, that He is alive and is the son of God, not a prophet or just another nice guy in history. David and Olivia both have a heart for God. We are very thankful and also very aware of the great responsibility that we have as parents to nurture them and guide them in the ways of the Lord, especially in these times. (Pray for that - the job not so much).

Next week, I will be in Atlanta for a conference called Connect. This is the Operation Christmas Child Volunteer Meeting that happens once a year - all of the OCC volunteers from the various regions come together to kick off the OCC activities for the rest of the year. I look forward to meeting and having fellowship with so many other Christians and OCC Volunteers. I think that this is going to be great. I have this calling and combined with my corporate experience, well, something good has to come out of that - not because of what I bring to the table, but because of how I pray God uses me. OCC has been a great blessing in my life and help with the kids. This connection has helped me to reinforce that God's love must be shared, that we are blessed beyond what we deserve and that some kids in this world have nothing. When I mention to other people about OCC, although no one has volunteered to sign up yet, what I do get is the chance to minister to them about other things and answer questions about the Bible.

The verse for the week that we are memorizing with the kids is Ephesians 4:29 - Don't use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.

Be Blessed and Happy Easter,

Rosie

Back on the Saddle???

This may be my first or last post. You really never know with me... Sorry it has been sooo long, but what can I say - I have been busy being busy and busy being not busy. Allow me to explain: not busy as in not doing anything other than watching episodes of Flashpoint on Netflix.com. Have you seen Flashpoint? I (we) love it. Edwin and I are addicted. He loves the sniper part and I love the justice part and of course the hot, bald guys. Yes, the bald guys. I am conditioning myself... for the future. Oh, who am I kidding, I have always loved me a bald guy! LOL. (Was that too much info, Gail?)

So what have we all been up to these past few months? There was the dog incident. Then there was my birthday OCC party (not OCD party - OCC as in operation Christmas Child). We also had Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and my last project and most exciting of them all bc of what we celebrated: Jonathan's 1st Birthday. Anyone who has known us for any amount of time knows that Lobaina birthday parties are always a fun and food-filled extravaganza!

Today I am writing to vent and to share and to kill some time too. I wanted to pick it up from the last post that I did not delete (I deleted some less than gracious posts from 2011 so that I can let the light shine), but I realize that too many things have happened and I missed too many good ideas and feelings and that I should really write some of these things down even if I don't publish them - all of that in one breath! As for my venting, I am going to vent alright, but only by thanking God for my family. My husband, who has always blessed me - from the moment he introduced napping to me - to this past weekend when he was (as always) level headed, to today when he continues to be so humble. I love that man and I thank God for Edwin and for His Grace and Mercy in allowing me to be his wife. I am not blindsighted by his charming personality, nor do I submit to him because I am afraid of being alone. I submit to him because he LOVES me and together we make 1 and as 1 we give priority to our relationship, our children and first and foremost - our God.

I wanted to share with you some pics of the Jonathan's birthday celebration, above. This birthday was pretty special. I invited about 150 people - yes, I wanted to share this event with sooo many friends that I lost control - lol. About 80 people attended, it was crowded, I was tired, and it took me two weeks to recover, but it was such a treat to be around so many people who were loving us and loving Jonathan. He caught croup from some one on that day, but nothing a little Orapred couldn't fix, right? ...! Jonathan continues to thrive physically and he continues to bless our home - he makes everything just a little sweater for all of us.

About killing some time... I have been killing time making cake pops lately. I made Christmas pops for the kids' school in December, Elmo pops for Jonathan's birthday, Valentine pops for V-day for school again and this weekend I am making Hello Kitty a la Rosie pops (a la Rosie means I may not have all the necessary decorations so I am winging it with what I have). I love baking and lately I have had the chance to bake more than usual. Last weekend for Edwin's birthday, I made him a cake from scratch! Like the good ole days when I had time to take private cake baking lessons. Now I am lucky if I get to shower, but baking is always fun and it relieves stress. The kids love to help. David is going to love to cook - I can already tell. Olivia loves it too, but she also has more elaborate interests like saving chicken bones and wanting to test how to cauterize a wound by using a straw (capillaries) filled with a red liquid (blood). I think she will definitely have a career in the medical field. She is so much like me that it scares me!

Well, I think this was a good ice breaker. I hope I can do this more often, but enough killing time for now! I have to get busy with Edwin... on the next episode of Flashpoint that is. ;)

Rosie

Ephesians 5:22-33

"Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her..."

"as Christ loved the church" - Christ died for the church!!! Will your husband die for you?

Philippians 2:3-11

"Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men."
